As the blog owner, you can delete comments. That way you can leave off the "comment moderation" if you wish, and then only go in afterwards to remove any offensive or spammy ones.
When you go to the comment page for a blog post, if you're logged in, you'll see a little garbage can icon by each of the comments. If you click on one, you can delete it.
